The Neighbor Project was born from two separate partner organizations, Joseph Corporation and Emmanuel House. Out of a desire to maximize their efforts in Aurora, Joseph Corporation and Emmanuel House merged in 2018 to become The Neighbor Project. From the founding of Joseph Corporation by the Sisters of Mercy in 1990 to becoming a NeighborWorks Chartered Member in 1999—And from Emmanuel House’s founding in 2002 to starting its home-ownership program in honor of one of its co-founder’s brother, Bryan Emmanuel Guzman, following his tragic passing in 2006; to being named one of the 100 most innovative non-profits or social enterprises in the world in 2016 (as a Classy Award Finalist)—these two organizations have had proud histories of serving Aurora, a legacy we commit to continuing.
